The Mercari Texas Bowl is working with health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local and state public health authorities, and with the ESPN to ensure compliance with guidelines and requirements related to COVID-19. Please see the important changes below that we've made to ensure we create a safe gameday experience for our fans!
You should NOT come to NRG Stadium if within the last 14 days you have experienced any of the following that cannot be attributed to another health condition or a specific activity such as physical exercise:
If you are in the group of individuals identified by the CDC as being at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19, you are encouraged to speak with your doctor before attending the Mercari Texas Bowl. PROTECT YOURSELF, PROTECT THE TEAM
All fans who are 10 and older and all working staff will be required to wear masks that completely cover their mouth and nose for the entirety of Mercari Texas Bowl gameday except while actively eating or drinking. If a fan is unable to wear a mask due to medical reasons, that fan will be permitted to enter if they wear a face shield while at the stadium. Guests failing to adhere to this policy will be subject to disciplinary measures.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer. Fans and working staff will have access to more than 475 hand sanitizing stations available throughout the Stadium. Please avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and please cover your coughs and sneezes. Please avoid high-fives and handshakes.
All fans will be asked to maintain social distancing at least six feet apart beginning in the parking lot, at the entry gates and as you move about the Stadium. When exiting your seats for concessions or restrooms or following the game, please wait for aisles to clear and follow instructions given by ushers and over the PA system to avoid congestion.
Fans and working staff should not come to the Stadium if they or anyone in their group has COVID-19, has COVID-19 symptoms or knows they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. All fans and working staff should take their temperature before leaving for the Stadium. All fans and working staff will be subject to a health screening before entering the Stadium, and working staff will be subject to a temperature check.
To limit the number of touchpoints between staff and fans on gameday, all food, beverage and merchandise will become a cashless experience. Cash will not be accepted and ATMS will not be operational.
To minimize touchpoints, all Mercari Texas Bowl gameday tickets will be mobile and can be accessed through the Houston Texans app using your Ticketmaster login. Fans should download their ticket on their own mobile device before arriving to NRG Stadium. You can download the Houston Texans app, HERE.
NRG Stadium cleaning and disinfecting has been enhanced and the frequency of each has been increased. In addition, the frequency of cleaning high touchpoints, like elevator buttons, door handles, handrails, counters and bathroom faucets, has been increased. Working staff will be given the necessary personal protective equipment for their respective roles.
To minimize touchpoints, we recommend that fans do not bring any bags with them; however, approved bags will be allowed into the Stadium after being checked during the security screening process. If fans do not bring a bag, they will go through the security screening process without having to remove any items from their pockets including cell phones and keys. Capacity at NRG Stadium has been reduced to approximately 20% of total seats to ensure social distancing. In addition, for the safety of our fans, players and coaches, the first 8 rows of the lower level will not be made available for sale. Tickets will be distributed in seat blocks referred to as "pods" to maintain physical distance between groups that do not know one another. Pods should only consist of close friends and family and will be physically distanced from other pods in your section.
If you or one of your guests starts to feel ill on gameday, please visit a first aid location located in the southwest and northeast corners of each level of the Stadium or text our gameday text-line at 832-241-0202. To report a health or safety violation on gameday, please send a text to 832.241.0202.
Tailgating is prohibited at this point in time.
Parking lots will open 2.5 hours prior to kickoff this season and all parking passes will be mobile to reduce touchpoints. Please have everyone in your vehicle put their mask on before showing the attendant your parking pass on your mobile device.
There will be no smoking or vaping inside of NRG Stadium on gamedays. Smoking will not be permitted on the smoking terraces or Stadium ramps.
We will continue to communicate all expectations, health protocols and safety guidelines to fans and working staff before their arrival to NRG Stadium on gameday. In addition, expectations, health protocols and safety guidelines will be communicated throughout gameday via signage, via messaging on video boards, television monitors and LED signage and via PA announcements. We will continue to monitor local, state and national health authorities and guidelines for updated recommendations and will communicate any changes in guidelines to fans and working staff as appropriate.
